BPM Manager and Solultion Architect (Contract position)

       Lead workflow automation for Budget Formulation for funding request ($4.9 billion) to congress. The effort  automated the workflow for FDAbudget proposal process to congress, specifically the FDA prioritization, HHS Justification, OMB Justification and Congressional Justification processs. Specific responsiblities included:

·         Project Management duties included creating an maintaining high level project plan,  a Product Backlog, and performing Sprint Planning (defining sprints, user stories, technical stories, tasks, acceptance criteria), and creating and updating Sprint Backlogs.

·         Created a Business domain model to aid in determining groups, roles, permssions, and data needed for the workflows/process models. Created BPMN workflow diagrams in Visio and in K2 Blackpearl BPM tool.

·         Created a solution architecture that consisted of Angular JS; Telerik Kendo UI; BPM workflow suite (K2 Blackpearl smart forms/views/ smart objects); Open XML API SDK, and SQL Server database.

·         Co-lead customer meetings and demos with Product Owner to gather requirements and feedback.

Freddie Mac, Infrastructure Group, Reston, VA , 04/2014 – 4/2015

Lead Appian Architect and Developer (Contract position)

       Instrumental in working with multifunctional teams (Architecture, Infrastructure, Application team, Security, and Operations) in certifiying and establishing Appian 7.x as a technology into Freddie Mac. Specific responsiblities included:

·         Worked with Architecture and Requirements team to spec out the infrastructure requirements for Appian installation in production and lower environments.

·         Installed Appian 7.7 in a WebLogic 12c and DB2 environment integrated with LDAP and IBM Tivoli Access Manager (TAM)

·         Worked with the Application teams to architect, design, and implement/code  3 Proof of Of Concept (POC) projects for critical financial applications. The initial implementation was deployed in an Appian cloud instance and then I helped migrate them to the Freddie Mac certified on premise environment. Acted as the system administrator to configure and manage the POC environments. Administered WebLogic 12c (Admin Server and Managed Server),  Appian suite, and kdb engine.

·         Worked with the security team to provision and implement Appian role based access component (custom groups and group members)

·         Worked with Operations team to automate and instrument Appian installation using Bladelogic and Appian scripts.

Lead SOA Architect

Provided Technical and Architectural direction for a team working for a DOT sponsored IT modernization program to govern carriers/companies who operate trucks and buses on U.S. roads and highways.

Worked hand in hand with the government Enterprise Architect to create a business driven SOA approach compliant to the Department of Transportation (DOT) FMCSA COMPASS IT modernization roadmap to migrate 28 legacy applications.  In addition, provided technical direction to multifunctional teams including requirements, application architecture, development, and test.

Responded to RFI and RFPs towards winning proposal responses for DOT.

Specific duties included:

·         Gave several customer presentations to demonstrate ROI from applying SOA to achieve business alignment

·         Created architectural guidance to include SOA reference architectures, service taxonomy, service identification methods, SOA policies and positions, Service Contract guidelines.

·         Introduced BPMN to document FMCSAs business process flows and developed specific methodology to create and implement services from business process decompositions.

Lead SOA Architect

Led a team of 20+ architects on the Enterprise Architect contract to oversee a portfolio of 150+ applications  towards a transition to an Enterprise SOA. Tasks included:

Presented and interacted with the government Chief Technology officer and chief architect to create an ESOA based vision, “AS IS” to “TO BE” roadmap, architectural implementation approach to leverage legacy assets, and guidance artifacts to govern a portfolio of 150+ project teams

       Supported business development team in responding to RFIs and RFP. Was the main technical contributor for a winning proposal for a DHS HQ contract.

·         Gave customer presentations to demonstrate how enterprise SOA will be applied to achieve business alignment

I was part of an advisory person team to assist the CIO and the Enterprise Architecture Team to set up SOA Strategy, Governance, and Implementation. Lead a major J2EE conversion of NIH's expansive, enterprise-wide grants management system known as IMPAC II. IMPAC II supports a $13 billion biomedical research program that is administered by 3,500 people. Since inception, this migration project has proven highly successful and serves as a basis for all future system development. Amidst significant technical and cultural hurdles, my team delivered three releases to system test on schedule and within budget. I played the role of development lead on eRA Commons and eRA Framework. In addition to my core contributions in architecture & coding, was also responsible for the following tasks:

 Comsearch -  Lead Architect and Developer

Comsearch wanted to expand market share and profits by leveraging the ecommerce medium. I was hired by the V.P. of Software to propose a successful migration strategy of SQL Form, UNIFY and Unix/C based legacy technology. I recommended an architecture that abstracted the EJB layer so that if the technological landscape changes the impact on software would be minimal. In additional several design patterns were invented to leverage the technology. After evaluating several vendor products, BEA Weblogic and Toplink was chosen due its robustness and maturity compared to IBM Websphere or Sun Iplanet (the other two leading vendors at the time). In about seven months, I mentored and led existing Comsearch staff and successfully delivered the first ecommerce application to its Internet customers. This ecommerce website was instrumental in enabling Comsearch to win the "2001 UTC Best Telecom Service Award".
